Yes, you are correct about Kawhia being a priceless, eco-gem.

With its relatively undiscovered natural hot springs, stunning ocean beach and ancient Maori history, Kawhia unfortunately, will be discovered by the tourist masses sooner or later and be over-run by them.

Lets hope they have learn't from the mistakes of other high trafficked regions and safe-guard their natural treasures, before its too late.

And if you really want to learn about Kawhia's rich history, then the best treat you could offer yourself is a cruise on the "Lady Kawhia", a 66 passenger, ex- Auckland ferry boat.

You basically won't experienced Kawhia indepth, unless you get out on it's beautiful harbour.

Thats where you will really witness it's grandeur.
