Best Time to Visit:

New Zealand is suitable to travel at any time of the year as there is always something to see or do, with tourism operators offering a smorgasboard of exciting fun activities and adventures year round.

However for those who have come for our stunning beaches, we recommend the warmer months from November to April as being far more pleasant, if strolling along a deserted beach in your shorts or bikini, is more your style, but if skiing takes your fancy, then the winter months during July and August are best.

The Christmas period and January are usually the busiest time of the year, so to avoid the crowds, we recommend February and April as ideal times to travel New Zealand.

Climate

New Zealand's climate is temperate, with the further North you go, the more sub-tropical and obviously, the further South, the colder it gets.

Average summer-time temperatures range between 20-30ºC and winter-time between 10-15ºC.

Items to Bring: Items to bring are dependent on the time you plan to visit New Zealand. If in the colder months, then a good New Zealand travel tip is, don't forget to bring a quality, waterproof coat.

The rain can make you feel cold and miserable if you don't dress for the weather. Other items can be purchased in NZ, if your not sure what they allow through customs., which seem to be getting more restricted.

Health and Safety Risks: Although one of the safest destinations in the world, common sense still prevails.

When visiting outdoor attractions, protect your valuables and equipment by locking your vehicle doors. New Zealand has few endemic diseases and its health care system is first class, but Guardia, a water-borne parasite that causes diarrhoea may lurk in untreated waters of rivers, ponds or lakes.
